"The Skater" pays homage to Pierre Matisse's predecessor, Henri Matisse, from whom he learned to be an artist. This work in 18K gold leaf pen is on black canvass to honor WFS and Shepherd Clark's first win in 2017, and the first perfect score in the history of WFS. It is the final art series of Pierre Henri Matisse before he passed away in 2019. The Matisse family were known to be fans of figure skating.
